Blockchain

Blockchain is a digital ledger technology that allows for secure, transparent, and decentralized record-keeping. It was first introduced in 2008 as the technology behind the cryptocurrency, Bitcoin, but has since been applied to a wide range of industries and use cases beyond finance.

The blockchain is essentially a database that is distributed across a network of computers, also known as nodes. Each node on the network has a copy of the database and can verify transactions and add new information to it. Transactions are grouped into blocks and added to the chain of blocks, hence the name “blockchain”.
