The term “degen” comes from “degenerate,” which means to deviate from established norms or standards. It indicates a departure from traditional or conservative investment practices in favor of more aggressive and sometimes reckless approaches.
“Degen” is often associated with decentralized applications (DApps) and platforms, where users engage in activities such as yield farming, liquidity mining or trading highly volatile tokens. These activities often carry notable risks, such as impermanent loss, smart contract vulnerabilities and market volatility.
