HODL
“HODL” is a slang term very popular in crypto. It is short for “hold on for dear life”, and came from a typo in a 2013 Bitcoin forum post in which a user wrote “I am HOD-Ling” instead of “I am holding”.
The hold (or “HODL”) approach is based on the notion that while cryptocurrency values can be quite volatile in the short term, they have the potential to rise in value over the long term. Holders of investments expect to withstand market fluctuations by holding onto them and eventually profit from the investments’ long-term growth.
