Memecoin
A memecoin is a type of cryptocurrency that is created and marketed primarily as a joke or meme, rather than as a serious investment opportunity. Memecoins often have a low market capitalization and price, and they are often created in large numbers. They often have a strong association with internet memes, pop culture or satire.
Some of the most well-known memecoins include Dogecoin, which began as a joke based on the popular Doge internet meme, and Shiba Inu (SHIB), which is also based on Doge. Despite their humorous origins, some memecoins have experienced significant price increases and have gained a significant following.
