Side channel

A side channel is a technique for learning about cryptographic processes without directly attacking the algorithms, by looking at unexpected consequences or auxiliary data. To deduce sensitive data, such as cryptographic keys, side-channel attacks take advantage of variances in timing, power consumption, electromagnetic emissions, or other physical properties.

Timing attacks, power analysis attacks, electromagnetic radiation attacks, cache-timing attacks, and differential power analysis (DPA) attacks are examples of side-channel attacks in cryptography.

In crypto world, these kinds of attacks could be used to discern when a private key is being put into a hardware wallet as it could radiate a higher signal.
