Total Supply

Total supply refers to the maximum amount of a specific coin that will ever be in circulation. This is determined by the cryptocurrency’s underlying technology and the rules that govern its issuance. Total supply can be divided into two categories: circulating supply and maximum supply.

  • Circulating supply, refers to the amount of a cryptocurrency that is currently in circulation and available for trading on the market. This number can fluctuate as coins are bought and sold, and as new coins are mined or minted.
  • Maximum supply, is the total number of coins that will ever be in circulation, as defined by the underlying technology. This number is often set at the time of the cryptocurrency’s creation, and can vary widely depending on the particular coin.
