Decentralized Storage

Decentralized storage involves distributing data across a decentralized (DeFi) network of nodes, rather than relying on a single server. Projects like IPFS (interPlanetary File System), Sia, Storj, and Filecoin leverage blockchain and peer-to-peer networks to accomplish this.

This approach enhances security and data availability by avoiding a central point of failure. In traditional centralized storage systems, if the central server or data center fails or is compromised, all data stored within becomes inaccessible or at risk.

Decentralized storage mitigates this risk by dispersing data across numerous nodes, promoting redundancy, resilience, and heightened security. Nevertheless, adoption and scalability are ongoing challenges in this field.
